I created this simple arrangement for soft and subtle images recently. Lighting has always fascinated me. Though not a professional photographer, I think I had some measure of success in creating a visual interpretation of ‘soft and subtle’.

Our new apartment has modern LED lighting which I find creates a cold, harsh look to everything when we find a need to use them. My daughter says it hurts her eyes. Fortunately we still have a few softer glow old lightbulbs in the lamps we brought. They are increasingly hard to find and the new LED bulbs sold to save us money are increasingly expensive. This all doesn’t seem to ‘add up’ into common sense as I see it. Even the LED Christmas lights have a harsh glow lacking warmth and charm.

LED’s are great for some things, but not lighting rooms.
